When I was a kid, I used to watch an inordinate number of old P. Ramlee movies, because they used to telecast them on television every Saturday afternoon, and my parents believed watching such films would help improve my Malay. I don't think it worked because I'd just read the subtitles. But what I do remember from all those black-and-white Shaw Brothers classics, is P. Ramlee was really quite the crooner. And singing was just one of this man's many talents! He was also an actor, director, composer, and writer.
