The Supremes Meets The Beatles!

It's no secret The Beatles loved Motown. Among the Motown hits the Fab Four covered are the Marvelettes' 'Please Mr Postman', the Miracles' "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" and Barrett Strong's "Money (That's What I Want)". Here, those glam girls of soul, The Supremes, cover the Beatles! This track was originally featured on The Supremes' "A Bit Of Liverpool", an album worth of British Invasion covers. I'd really like to hear their covers of "World Without Love" and "Because", so if anyone has those tracks, do let me know.

The Supremes - You Can't Do That

While "A Bit Of Liverpool" is long out of print, the track above is also found on "Motown Meets The Beatles", a collection of 17 Beatles covers by Motown artists. CD available, here.

Now THIS is cool! Not as cool as when they sang the theme song for a Vincent Price movie, but it runs a close second...

I found an abundance of this title for sale, and I am working on obtaining my very own copy. I'll be sure to transfer to digital if and when it happens...

Hi
I actually own this CD, so tell me what you would like to get. By the way, the Because track is not the Beatles song, but the Dave Clark Five tune!

hi ck! yes isn't it the coolest? i wouldn't rate all the covers as top-notch (compared to the Beatles originals) but the Motown groove does add a very nice touch!

Hey! I think "You can't do that" is the best song on the LP. I don't know if you got the whole album yet, but I uploaded it to my journal:

Better late than never?!? I've been hanging out on Flickr more than blogs recently...
