This super catchy powerpop song was a 1984 release by Japanese band, The Checkers. It seems the song was given a rebirth of sorts after J-Rocker Hyde performed a karaoke cover on Matthew's Best Hit TV (the same wacky gameshow featured in Lost in Translation!).

I'm in a bit of a Japan music craze at the moment, because I'm planning a trip to Tokyo at the end of March. If anyone has any recommendations on record stores to check out, please share! I bought a street atlas so that I can navigate my way to the "dozens of specialty shops" at the back of Tokyo Hands store.
