"Best New Girl Singer of 1964"



Honestly, "Puppet On A String" is not one of my most favourite songs. Still, that hasn't stopped me from appreciating Sandie Shaw's other recordings. According to the liner notes of her debut album, Sandie Shaw's career started when she sang (for a laugh) with the Roulettes (Adam Faith's backing group) backstage at a theatre. "But she sang well... well enough for Adam, passing by through the backstage corridors to stop, listen - then look. Adam reported Sandie's talent to his manager, Eve Taylor. Within a month or so, Sandie had a Number One hit record - 'There's Always Something There To Remind Me'".
